Counselling
Counselling
Counselling is a 1-to-1 confidential intervention which offers a safe and non-judgemental setting allowing our learners to explore and discuss issues in their lives which may be causing them difficultly or distress. Our counselling service offers several therapeutic interventions that are tailored to meet needs of the individual learner including:
- Art therapy
- CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
- Mental Health support
- Play Therapy
- Talking/listening therapy
All our learners, from Y1 to Y11, have access to our in-house full-time fully qualified counsellor/psychotherapist whether they attend onsite or remotely.
Mental Health First-Aid
In addition, several staff, including all the pastoral managers, are Mental Health First-Aiders. This means they have the knowledge and skills to spot signs of learners experiencing poor mental health, are confident to start a conversation and signpost them to appropriate support.
Trauma Informed Practitioners
As a trauma informed school, we are able to support children and teenagers who suffer with trauma or mental health problems and whose troubled behaviour acts as a barrier to learning. A number of staff are trained Trauma Informed Practitioners through the Trauma Informed Schools organisation.
